We collect or use the following information to receive donations or funding and organise fundraising activities:
Where relevant, we may also collect or use special category information for these purposes. This information receives additional protection because of its sensitive nature and may include racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, genetic information, health information, sex life information, or sexual orientation information.
Under UK data protection law, we must have a lawful basis for collecting and using your personal information. Depending on the circumstances, we may rely on consent, contract, legal obligation, legitimate interests, recognised legitimate interests, vital interests or public task.
Our legitimate interests include receiving donations or funding, managing donor and funder relationships, keeping appropriate financial and administrative records, and organising fundraising activities that support the work of Climate Change Heritage CIC. This processing helps us raise and manage funds effectively so we can carry out our community, research, education and heritage-protection activities. We use only information that is relevant and necessary for these purposes, limit access to it, and aim not to use it in ways people would not reasonably expect.
Where recognised legitimate interests apply, this may include sharing personal information with a public authority or another organisation where it is needed for their public tasks or official functions.
Depending on the lawful basis and any applicable exemptions, your rights may include access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection to processing, data portability and withdrawal of consent. Where you make a valid rights request, we will respond without undue delay and normally within one month.
Information may come directly from you or, where relevant, from regulatory authorities, family members or carers, social services, charities or voluntary-sector organisations, schools, colleges, universities or other education organisations, CCTV or other recordings, insurance companies, publicly available sources, councils and other public-sector organisations, previous employers, market research organisations, providers of marketing lists and other personal information, suppliers and service providers.
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, to meet legal, accounting or regulatory requirements, or to deal with disputes. Donation, financial and tax-related records may be kept for up to six years or longer where a legal or regulatory requirement applies. Other information is reviewed periodically and deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed.
Where necessary and lawful, we may share personal information with charities and voluntary organisations, safeguarding organisations, emergency services, professional advisers, legal bodies or authorities, local authorities or councils, relevant regulatory authorities, external auditors or inspectors, organisations we are legally obliged to share information with, suppliers and service providers, and—where appropriate and with a lawful basis—through our website, social media or other information media.
Where another organisation acts jointly with us as a controller, or processes information on our behalf, we will provide or make available the relevant information where required.
If you have concerns about our use of your personal information, please contact us first at info@ClimateChangeHeritage.co.uk.
